Everyone at Freshfields Animal Rescue is delighted to announce that our wonderful dog Freya has at last found a home of her own.

Having hit the headlines in May when she was dubbed ‘the loneliest dog in Britain’ after being here for 6 years, Freya’s story caught the attention of animal-lovers across the world. Her life in a rescue centre has highlighted the plight of rescue dogs who have never known a family home. We had offers of adoption for Freya from around the globe, and Freya made the news again when animal advocate and film director Michael Bay offered Freya a part in his next ‘Transformers’ movie.

Ray and Jackie from Cheadle Hulme spotted Freya when she was featured on ‘Good Morning Britain’, and thought they might be able to give Freya the home she so desperately wanted. They got in touch with us and, with the support of Freya’s long-time carers at the Kennels, began the process of getting to know each other.

Collette Piert, Kennels Manager, said:

‘It was obvious from the beginning that Ray and Jackie had something special with Freya. They immediately understood what she needed, and have worked closely with us over the last few weeks to put in place the support and guidance we provided. They are very experienced dog-owners and already have 2 rescue dogs, Teddy and Joanie. The adoption papers will be signed this week, and finally Freya will be part of a family who can provide a stable home where she can enjoy her life to the full. We couldn’t be happier for her’.

Michael Bay's office commented that Michael is delighted to hear that Freya has a loving home, especially one that includes other dogs, and still plans to give her a featured role in the movie.

We currently have around 40 dogs at Freshfields who deserve a starring role in someone’s life. Please get in touch if you would like to help us in our work.
