Merseyside Police is appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision on the Liverpool bound carriageway of the M62 between junctions eight and seven on Wednesday 7 September.
At 3.50 pm officers from the North West Motorway police group responded to a report that a lorry had crossed the central reservation and continued to drive on the wrong side of the motorway.
The lorry left the motorway at junction seven and drove the wrong way along the A570 link way towards St Helens.
Police Constable Kurt Timpson said “I am sure that if you witnessed this incident that you would remember it. I would ask that anyone with information to come forward and assist us in our enquiries.
“Merseyside Police is committed to improving road safety and protecting those who use our road network every day”
A 61-year-old man from Stoke was later arrested and has been released pending a decision on whether he should be prosecuted.
Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact the MSOC Roads Policing team on 0151 777 5747.
