Police are appealing for information about a man who is missing from a nursing home in Blackburn.

Barry Cook, 60, resides at Kemple View Nursing Home in Langho and went missing while he was visiting Preston city centre on Tuesday, July 12. He was last seen at Preston Bus Station at around 2.15pm. He was spoken to on the phone the following day but has not been seen or heard from since.

He is subject to a hospital order and suffers from mental health issues which require medication. Officers are becoming increasingly concerned about his welfare.

He is described as white, 6ft, with grey hair and wears glasses. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, blue tracksuit top and grey tracksuit bottoms. He is believed to have travelled back to the Ribble Valley area possibly using the rail or bus network.

We would urge members of the public not to approach him but to contact police immediately if they have seen him or know of his whereabouts.

DI Tim McDermott of Blackburn CID said “We are increasingly concerned about Mr Cook and I would urge anyone who thinks they may have seen him or has any information as to his whereabouts contact us. He is subject to a hospital order and he is also without his medication which can have a detrimental effect on his wellbeing. I would urge people, if they see him, not to approach him but to call the police immediately.”
