New foster carers are being recruited by Lancashire County Council to provide homes for the 1600 children in their care while they can't live with their families.

Anyone interested is invited to come along to the information evening and find out more from their experienced social workers and current foster carers:

Tuesday 12 July 2016, 6pm at County Hall, Fishergate Hill, Pitt Street, Preston, PR1 8RB.

There is no need to book but please arrive early to avoid disappointment. You will have the opportunity to meet current carers and hear from them about the rewards and the challenges of being a foster carer.

Around 20 children come through the county council's social work teams every week, from newborn babies to teenagers. They are looking for people who can foster all ages of children, particularly brothers and sisters who need to stay together and teenagers.

A package of support is available 24/7 to help foster carers in their role, including local support groups, their own social worker, a dedicated helpline and flexible training.

Foster carers who are transferring from other agencies can be fast tracked through the approval process and county council foster carers get first priority for placements ahead of agency carers.

If you are over 21, have a spare room available and want to make a difference to a local child's life, why not be a foster carer for your Local Authority?

If you're unable to come along on the night, call the fostering recruitment team on 0300 123 6723 or visit the website: htpp://www.lancashire.gov.uk/fostering
